The Museums of Port Isabel, in collaboration with the City of Port Isabel, the Port Isabel Economic Development Corporation, the Laguna Madre Art League, and the Laguna Madre Museum Foundation, is proud to present the 7th Annual “Los Colores del Muerto”, Day of the Dead Celebration.
Beginning on Friday, October 30, with a screening of “MACARIO” at 8:30 p.m., Lighthouse Establishment Cinema will close out the 2009 movie season and kick off the Los Colores del Muerto Celebration. The movie is a Mexican Day of the Dead classic and is subtitled. Admission is free and concessions are available.
On Saturday, October 31, 2009, the Museums of Port Isabel will host a full day of activities, all at no charge to the public, including Day of the Dead arts and crafts, food, exhibits, hands-on activities and live entertainment. The celebration is free and open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Altar exhibit will remain on display through Saturday, November 14, 2009.
The Museums of Port Isabel is determined to preserve the heritage, culture and arts of the Laguna Madre area. The Los Colores del Muerto is an opportunity for both the community and the visitor to learn about and participate in an important part of our heritage. Self guided tours of the City of Port Isabel Cemetery are also available.
