Museums of Port Isabel’s “Telling Our Stories” Program

The Museums of Port Isabel and the Laguna Madre Museum Foundation are proud to present its first “Telling Our Stories” Series of 2009 on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Treasures of the Gulf Museum, 317 E. Railroad Ave. at 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend. No admission charge.

Local historian and owner of Antiques@Tarnava/Rio Bravo Gallery, Rod E. Bates will present the significance of the Historic Port of Point Isabel. Mr. Bates who is also a  board member of the Port Isabel Historical Preservation Board, the South Padre Island Historical Board, the Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce and is also involved in other heritage based organizations in the Rio Grande Valley. He has researched extensively on the topic and will present a very interesting account of the area’s history.

About "Telling Our Stories"

'Telling Our Stories' is a monthly program hosted by the Port Isabel Museums and the Laguna Madre Museum Foundation. Scheduled for the last Thursday of each month, 'Telling Our Stories' features a variety of subjects and speakers all sharing history that made an impact on the Laguna Madre area. 'Telling Our Stories' is open to the public and admission is free.
