Telling Our Stories~ How to Care for Turtles 6/28 6:30 p.m.

Topic: How to Care for Turtles
Presented by: Sea Turtle, Inc., Kat Lillie

The Museums of Port Isabel and the Laguna Madre Museum Foundation are proud to present its “Telling Our Stories” Series of 2012 on Thursday, June 28th, at the Treasures of the Gulf Museum, 317 East Railroad Avenue at 6:30pm. This month’s topic will be on “How to Care for Turtles”.

Kat Lillie, an Educator and Volunteer Coordinator will be giving a presentation on “How to Care for Turtles”. Sea Turtle, Inc. is a non-profit sea turtle rescue center founded in 1977 by Ila Loetscher, the Turtle Lady of South Padre Island. This “Telling our Stories” session will outline the Sea Turtle, Inc. three (3) part mission of sea turtle conversation, education and rehabilitation. Lillie will talk about injuries they see in the hospital and the rehabilitation process, tell some exciting stories of beach patrols with the endangered nesting Kemp’s Ridleys, and talk about the Sea Turtle, Inc. educational programs. Lillie will also share what people can do to help these critically endangered animals survive the many human-inflicted dangers in the ocean. Shells and bones will be available for people to touch and a special “LIVE” guest will be on hand.

Please join us as we learn about “How to Care for Turtles”. All locals and visitors are welcomed to attend this free presentation. Complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be provided and are being sponsored by the Museums of Port Isabel.

‘Telling Our Stories” is an educational program aimed to preserving the heritage of the City of Port Isabel and the Laguna Madre area.
