Telling Our Stories~ Rudy Garcia “Poems & Stories” 4/25 7p 7p

The Museums of Port Isabel and the Laguna Madre Museum Foundation are proud to present its “Telling Our Stories” Series of 2013 on Thursday, April 25th, at the Treasures of the Gulf Museum, 317 East Railroad Avenue at 7:00 pm. This month’s topic will be “Poems & Stories” by Rudy Garcia. 

Rudy Garcia is a lifelong resident of the Laguna Madre area and  is employed with The Point Isabel Independent School District.  When Rudy, is asked for a Bio by the different venues where he presents, he always says, “I am an educator by vocation and a poet on occasion.”  Mr. Garcia is a published author with poets of the east village in New York and numerous other sites and anthology books.  He has a book of poems scheduled to come out this summer published by Sarah Book Publishing.

Mr. Garcia presentation will be on poems and stories inspired by the geographic area of the Laguna Madre.

Please join us for an interested evening with Rudy Garcia. All locals and visitors are welcomed to attend this free presentation. Complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.

‘Telling Our Stories” is an educational program aimed to preserving the heritage of the City ofPort Isabeland the Laguna Madre area. Our goals are to preserve and educate our local and natural history through presentations and exhibits. The program is co-sponsored by the Museums of Port Isabel and the Laguna Museum Foundation. “Telling Our Stories” is presented on the last Thursday of each month from January through September at the Treasures of the Gulf Museum. Admission is free.

ENCORE! ENCORE! On Saturday, April 20th, 2013, the City of Port Isabel and the Port Isabel Museums will be hosting their annual Queen Isabella Market Day II from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Lighthouse grounds. BIKERS WELCOMED!

Vendors on the Lighthouse Square will be offering a variety of food, antiques, arts & crafts, art and more. For vendor information, click here.

Special admission prices to museums and lighthouse! The Port Isabel Historical Museum and the Treasures of the Gulf Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will have a special admission price of $1.00 for each site. The Lighthouse will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. also with a special admission price of $1.00. Come join in the fun, enjoy historic Port Isabel during Queen Isabella Market Day.
