Museums Schedule Summer Camp 2013

summercamp-mopi-logoThe Museums of Port Isabel announces “SUMMER CAMP 2013”. The Museums of Port Isabel will be conducting a SUMMER CAMP complete with a wide variety of activities sure to keep the campers entertained and interested and in the process they will also learn something about the history of the Laguna Madre area.

The Museums’ SUMMER CAMP program is looking for volunteers, sponsors and participants, SESSION 1 June 10 – June 27 from 9 a.m. – 12 noon (Monday through Thursday) and SESSION 2 July 1 – 25 from 9 a.m. – 12 noon (Monday through Thursday). This program is open for campers from 3rd – 5th grade and limited to first 10. Cost: $125 for each camper per month or $150 for both SESSIONS and includes: T-Shirt, Art & Crafts, Videos, Walking Tours, Field Trips and Games.

Activities:

Campers will participate in a variety of adventurous activities including real acting parts in a pirate play, discover the big world of insects, learn all about the birds that live in our backyards, become a chef and prepare treats, discover the world of fish, take field trips and have fun with arts and crafts.

* Late pick up fee if campers are picked up after 12 noon, for each hour.

Museums of Port Isabel offers new Sunday hours

The Museums of Port Isabel is now open on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Effective immediately and including the Port Isabel Historical Museum and the Treasures of the Gulf Museum (317 E. Railroad Avenue) are fully staffed and able to extend their hours of business beyond the Tuesday through Saturday schedule.  Combination tickets purchased on Sunday can now be applied to each of the three sites which include the Port Isabel Historic Lighthouse. The Lighthouse is open daily, weather permitting. Lighthouse Summer Hours: Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
