LINDA GARRETT: “Ghost Tours of Port Isabel!”

The Museums of Port Isabel and the Laguna Madre Museum Foundation are proud to present its “Telling Our Stories” Series of 2014 on Thursday, May 22nd, at the Treasures of the Gulf Museum, 317 East Railroad Avenue at 7pm. This month’s topic will be on “Ghost Tours”, by Linda Garrett.

Linda was born and raised in Central Illinois, the land of Lincoln, along with her husband Mike.  After 25 years of corporate America in the Dallas, Ft. Worth area, Mike and Linda relocated to Laguna Vista.   They owned and operated Coastal Mailbox in Port Isabel store until fully retiring in June of 2012.

Linda’s interest in the spiritual realm began early.  She was keenly aware of relatives past in her maternal grandmother’s four (4) generation Victorian farm house complete with a widow’s walk.  Linda’s family including her father, sister, two (2) sons and two (2) of the four (4) grandchildren are extremely sensitive and all have had personal experiences with the spirits.

The ghost tours became reality in Port Isabel as a result of Linda’s community involvement in the Chamber of Commerce and the Merchant Committee.   After a couple of years of talking about ghost tours, a collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce, PI Museums, EDC and the public library, the tours were launched October of 2010 in conjunction with the month long celebration of “Dia de los Muertos”, Day of the Dead.  The success of the tours is the history and events unique to Port Isabel.

Please join us for an interested evening with Linda Garrett.  All locals and visitors are welcomed to attend this free presentation. Complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.
