The Museums of Port Isabel and the Laguna Madre Museum Foundation are proud to present its “Telling Our Stories” Series of 2017 on Thursday, February 23rd, at the Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center, 309 East Railroad Avenue at 7pm. This month’s topic will focus on “Port Isabel – Our Stories” by Dr. Eli Sheldon.
Dr. Eli Sheldon is a native of Michigan and lived in Texas for several years before moving to Oklahoma. Dr. Sheldon is an author, minister, and adjunct instructor for Oklahoma Baptist University. Along with books and newspaper articles, Dr. Sheldon is the editor and primary writer of a 60 page Historical journal published twice annually.. As a long-time Winter Texan, he has turned his studies of our area into a Historical coloring book. This is his second book produced in this manner and is the bases of the presentation on Thursday, February 23rd @ 7pm.
Dr. Sheldon is an award winning writer and received his doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. His wife, Freida, is a native Texan and aids him in matters of Historical research. Dr. Sheldon has had cartoons and articles published in several newspapers. Dr. Sheldon is the author of a theological book on the subject of Near Death experiences.

Please join us for an entertaining evening with Dr. Sheldon on giving a presentation of the history of the “Port Isabel – Our Stories” with emphasis on the Port Isabel and local area. All locals and visitors are welcomed to attend this free presentation. Complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.
‘Telling Our Stories” is an educational program aimed to preserving the heritage of the City of Port Isabel and the Laguna Madre area. Our goals are to preserve and educate our local and natural history through presentations and exhibits. The program is co-sponsored by the Museums of Port Isabel and the Laguna Museum Foundation. “Telling Our Stories” is presented on the fourth (4Th) Thursday of each month from January through September at the Treasures of the Gulf Museum. Admission is FREE.
